Peptide Sequence Database is a focused scientific lookup tool: standardized compound records, a filterable index, and a small set of notation guides. It is not a blog and it is not a product catalog.

Purpose

Each compound page is a structured record — sequence, length, formula, molecular weight, CAS number, PubChem CID where applicable, synonyms, structural classification, modifications, and primary-source references. The public interface is a search and filter tool, not a list of WordPress articles.

Scope

The initial corpus is a few dozen well-characterized peptides (peptide hormones, approved peptide drugs, and classical biochemical standards). The target size of the site is on the order of 40–50 pages including educational material. Coverage is not proteome-wide and is not vendor-wide.

Methodology

Identifiers and masses are taken from public chemical databases and the primary literature cited on each record. Sequences are written in IUPAC one-letter code for search, with a separate display notation for stereochemistry and non-canonical chemistry. When those sources disagree, the record notes the convention used rather than silently averaging them.

This is a curated table, not an automated scrape. Errors should be treated as curation errors and corrected against the cited source.

Chemical references

This site is a sequence and identity reference. Chemical names, registry numbers, and structures should be confirmed in independent public registries before laboratory use.

Primary verification destinations linked from compound records include PubChem and CAS Common Chemistry. Where a PubChem CID or CAS Registry Number is available, the record points outward so identity can be checked against those sources.

Editorial rule: compound data should not be rewritten to favor any manufacturer’s catalog names, except where a brand is listed as a synonym because it is how a substance is widely indexed (and then only as a synonym). Purchasing, dosing, and clinical advice are out of scope.
