Structure & modifications
Linear nonapeptide with two Pro-Pro motifs that restrict backbone conformation.
Notes
Bradykinin is a linear nonapeptide kinin (Arg-Pro-Pro-Gly-Phe-Ser-Pro-Phe-Arg) liberated from kininogen by kallikrein.
Two Pro-Pro motifs restrict backbone geometry. There is no disulfide; classification is linear. Intact bradykinin prefers B2 receptors; des-Arg9-bradykinin prefers B1.
The antagonist icatibant in this database targets B2 signaling with extensive non-canonical substitutions — a useful contrast when reading “almost bradykinin-like” sequences.
